How do I remove a Facebook pixel from my Business Manager?

Facebook has made the Business Manager layout more difficult so it’s not possible to delete your Facebook Pixel. Facebook may re-enable the feature in the future. We will show you how to delete Facebook Pixel from Business Manager.

Although you cannot delete the Facebook Pixel from your Business Manager currently, you can at least remove it from your Facebook Ad Account, which is connected to the Pixel, so it doesn’t get set up as an optimization event when creating a new Facebook Campaign.

How do you remove a Facebook Pixel from your website?

It is best to remove Facebook Pixel from your website. Even if the Facebook Pixel isn’t deleted, as long it isn’t on your website, it will not be able to send any Pixel data.

You must delete any Facebook Pixel codes you wish to remove. You may have multiple Pixel codes on your website simultaneously. The Facebook Pixel ID can be used to verify that you are deleting only the correct Facebook Pixel.

The Facebook Pixel can be installed with these ways:

    • Manual installation, perhaps with the assistance of a developer
    • Manual Facebook Pixel Installation with Google Tag Manager

Remove Facebook Pixel when the Code was Installed Manually

If the Facebook Pixel code was manually installed into your website’s head section, you will need to manually remove it from that section.

It is possible to check if the Facebook Pixel has been installed in your website’s head section by opening your website and pressing CTRL+U. Search for the text Facebook Pixel within the front-end code.

Google Tag Manager’s Facebook Code Code Can Be Removed

You must delete the Facebook Pixel after installing it via Google Tag Manager. This is done by stopping or removing any tags that fire the Facebook Pixel events from your website.

Even if you didn’t install the Facebook Pixel and aren’t familiar with Google Tag Manager, you should still be able remove it by stopping any tags related to it.

If you believe the naming conventions to be correct, then you should immediately stop any events that include the name Pixel or are related to Facebook. You can click on tags to check if they are similar to Pixel codes.

To only see Tags, click on Tags when you sign in to Google Tag Manager.

You can now choose tags related to Pixel. Click on the Facebook Pixel Tag that you wish to delete. Click on the tag to open it and edit it. Click on the three dots in the upper left corner. Click on the pause/delete button to stop or continue deleting tags.

You must confirm that you deleted or paused the Facebook Pixel Tag Manager tag by saving the changes. To ensure that you have the correct tags paused, we recommend stopping all tags.

A common question is How to Delete a Facebook pixel.

Can you delete a Facebook pixel?

While you used to be capable of deleting a Facebook Pixel, the new Facebook Business Manager interface does not allow this. The only options are to delete the Facebook Pixel code or remove it from your ad accounts.

How to check if the Facebook Pixel still sends data to my website

This can be checked by downloading the Pixel Helper Google Chrome Extension. Simply click on the Extension whenever you visit a page of your website. The Pixel Helper will inform you if it detects a Pixel and whether it is sending any data to Facebook.
